Pale Burnhardt: How did you get invited to go up to a show&tell in Algona?
COWBOY: I was invited by Melissa Householder as a surprise show&tell for her daughter, Kadence, who I met at the Chola Loca Memorial Mixer in Mason City.
PB: What are some things you shared with the class?
C: We talked about safety in sports. Why your helmet is important, why mouthguards and caring for your teeth is important. We also talked about safety gear like pads. And wrist braces and why they are so important.
PB: Sounds like we may need to have a show&tell at practice some time soon. Did anyone ask for your autograph?
C: No questions about autographs.
PB: They were probably in shock of your awesomeness and just forgot. Did you get any crazy questions?
C: They of course asked why my name is "COWBOY". They asked if I can skate a halfpipe and a quarterpipe and what tricks I know. They also asked how old I was when I started skating.
PB: Ok, so your choice of headwear and boots gives your name choice away, but just out of curiosity, can you do either of those tricks? What other tricks do you know?
C: Yes, I can skate a quarter and half and the 180 jump and manuels and some other nameless fancy footwork.
PB: When you first joined, I did make a few attempts at nicknames for you. Such as "Fancy Feet" and "PonyBoy". I even tried the Lord of the Rings angle with "The Prancing Pony". COWBOY just seemed to stick though.... I was under the impression that your skates developed with you in the womb? Is this not true?
C: Actually, it was about age 3 or 4.
PB: Well it seems overall that you had a great experience. Do you think you walked away with any new fans?
C: Yes, maybe we will see at the next home bout.
